Looking back on the development mikveh has undergone in Reform Judaism, especially in recent decades, one finds perhaps the outstanding example of a Jewish custom that has gone from neglect and even revulsion to enthusiastic affirmation within expanding circles of the same movement. Its increased popularity within the context of a Reform Judaism seeking to reattach itself more securely to tradition, speaks to the possibility of finding innovative meanings in an ancient ritual.
