About Us
Reimagining the Mikveh for Modern Women
For millennia, the mikveh has been a cornerstone of Jewish life—a sacred space for reflection, renewal, and connection. Traditionally, it has symbolized the continuity of Jewish family life and offered spiritual solace to women across generations. Yet, for many, the mikveh today feels disconnected from its original purpose.
Negative experiences, outdated practices, and rigid expectations have left some women feeling alienated. Even deeply committed religious women may stop immersing due to discomfort, while non-religious women in Israel often view the mikveh as a state-imposed requirement for marriage, fostering resentment rather than connection.
This is where The Eden Center steps in—on a mission to restore the mikveh’s relevance and make it a welcoming, empowering space for women in the modern world.
Our Vision
At the heart of The Eden Center is a vision of the mikveh as more than a ritual space. We see it as a transformative hub for strengthening women, families, and communities.
Our goals include:
-
Inclusive and welcoming—A place for women from all backgrounds.
-
A resource for mental and physical health—Using the mikveh as a platform to raise awareness about health issues and provide access to support.
-
Strengthening community connections—Turning the mikveh into a space where women can find communal support and resources.
-
Promoting spiritual and personal growth—Encouraging women to create meaningful and empowering immersion experiences.
-
A space for open dialogue—Amplifying women’s voices on intimacy, health, and well-being and advocating for open conversations on these topics.
Global Impact
Although rooted in Israel, The Eden Center’s initiatives resonate far beyond its borders. Through educational programs, workshops, and partnerships, we’ve touched the lives of tens of thousands of women across the globe.
By reimagining the mikveh, The Eden Center is leading a transformative movement—making this ancient institution a source of belonging, meaning, and renewal for every woman.

A Word from The Director
The Eden Center was born out of over 20 years of research and a simple yet profound question:
How can the mikveh truly serve as an empowering resource for women?
Dr. Naomi Marmon Grumet, Founder and Executive Director of The Eden Center, I recognized that too often, the mikveh was a place of pain rather than solace. Women from all walks of life—more than 750,000 immersions annually in Israel alone—may encounter the mikveh during deeply personal and challenging moments, including fertility struggles, miscarriage, postpartum depression, or shifts in self-image.
Dr. Marmon Grumet shares:
"I asked myself: How, and where, are we able to hold those moments? What resources can we give women that can help them heal—spiritually, emotionally, and physically?
At The Eden Center, we are answering these questions by infusing our ancient tradition with contemporary relevance in line with the needs of today’s women. Our goal is to create a space of well-being, healing, and support—where every woman can feel seen, valued, and renewed."
Join us in transforming the mikveh experience.
